CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Accelerate the removal of buckets from the floors of residential areas, improve the statistical system of recyclable materials, and take the lead in realizing zero landfill of primary household garbage in main urban areas... The reporter of Chongqing Daily learned on March 27 that according to Chongqing Municipal Administration of Urban Management, Chongqing Municipal Household Garbage Classification Leading Group Office issued a Notice recently, requiring further efforts to classify household garbage, and classification of household garbage in the main urban areas of Chongqing will achieve full coverage by the end of October this year.

The Notice clearly stated that in accordance with the target of “The Main Urban Areas Will Basically Complete the Household Garbage Classification and Treatment System by 2020 and the Whole Municipality by 2022”, the coverage of the household garbage sorting system will be expanded rapidly, and the main urban areas will be fully covered by the end of October this year. In addition to main urban areas, districts and counties with conditions shall strive to achieve full coverage of the built-up areas in advance. On the basis of taking the lead in realizing full coverage, public institutions should take the lead in realizing full coverage, implement garbage classification with higher standards, and set an example for the society.

The Notice also proposed to speed up the implementation of bucket removal in residential quarters and regular scheduled delivery. It is necessary to strengthen the effective connection between the recycling system of renewable resources and the sanitation system, and to improve the statistical system of recyclables; to guide residents to filter out water and put in household kitchen waste, separate hazardous waste, and encourage the sale of recyclables. At the same time, main urban areas will take the lead in achieving zero landfill of primary household garbage this year.

All districts and counties shall strive to ensure that kitchen waste enters relevant special facilities for classified disposal by 2022. In principle, each district and county shall have a centralized transfer and storage facility for hazardous waste, and the classified hazardous waste shall be disposed in strict accordance with the relevant provisions on hazardous waste.
