CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “It’s all because of the moon. The moon is so beautiful and you are so pretty.” On the evening of May 7, many people were immersed in the gentle moonlight to enjoy the last supermoon of 2020.

The full moon rises between Sheraton Chongqing Hotel.

Since this year, the supermoon has appeared four times, namely on February 9, March 10, April 8 and May 7. Among them, the moon on April 8 is the biggest full moon in 2020.

On May 6, a flight about to land in Chongqing is passing across the full moon.

At dusk on May 6, the moon “rises” from the back of a pigeon on the roof.

National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Science introduced yesterday through its official Weibo that in fact, there was no such concept as “supermoon” in astronomy. This word was put forward by an astrologer named Richard Nolle in 1979, and its astronomical concept is perigee-syzygy. Until today, there is no unified standard for “supermoon”. Generally speaking, when the distance between Moon and Earth is no more than 360,000 kilometers, the full moon or new moon is called “supermoon”. (Translated by Liu Sha, Fathom Language Limited)
