CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On May 29, the launch ceremony of the Chongqing Bishan “Sky Shuttle” demonstration line was held in Bishan, which is the first “Sky Shuttle” demonstration line in China. Such small transport volume rail transit system driven by on-board electrical energy and adopted with driverless technology will help solve the urban road congestion problem.

The “Sky Shuttle”, independently researched and developed by a company in China which owns 100% of the independent intellectual property rights, fills China’s gap in relevant rail transit technology and industry. The “Sky Shuttle” launched this time is a three-carriage train, with the layout inside similar to that of the light-rail train.

“It is like a rail bus in the sky,” said the person in charge of the R&D company. The “Sky Shuttle” can consist of six carriages at most. The rail transit system is driven by on-board electrical energy, characterized by small vibration noise, excellent gradeability and low cost. Meanwhile, the “Sky Shuttle” is equipped with high and new technologies such as the driverless system, automatic positioning, automatic fare collection and face recognition, with the maximum speed reaching at 80 kph. A single carriage can carry 70-120 passengers.

Bishan “Sky Shuttle” project was commenced in last August and is planned to be open to traffic and put into service this September. The demonstration line is 15.4 km in total, with a total of 15 stations established. The line starts from the front square of Bishan High-speed Railway Station and ends at the Bishan Station of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 1. (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
