CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the dismantling and recovery of the last catway load-bearing rope was completed, marking the successful completion of the entire catway dismantling operation of the Chongqing Nanliang Expressway (Nanchuan to Liangjiang New Area) Taihong Yangtze River Bridge. It lays a foundation for the removal of the remaining tower top door frame and other facilities.

The catway of Taihong Yangtze River Grand Bridge adopted a continuous structure system. The lowest point of the catway is 128m away from the river, the highest point is 198m, and the drop height is more than 100m. A round trip is equivalent to walking up and down a 20-storey building.

After the main cable erection, steel box girder hoisting and main cable protection of the bridge are completed, the catway has completed its mission and needs to be demolished. During the construction process, the builders optimized the construction plan, made strict disclosure of the construction plan, construction drawings and construction procedures on the upper part of the bridge, strengthened safety control, and successfully completed the demolition of catway.

With the removal of catway, Taihong Yangtze River Grand Bridge also appeared as a whole. Two yellow main cables, like the huge sails of the bridge, have been ready. Next, the bridge will move into the stage of removing the top gantry and paving the road.

Nanliang Expressway is constructed by Guizhou Bridge Group, with a total length of 77km. It starts from Nanchuan Dapuzi Interchange, passes through Fuling, Banan and Liangjiang New Area, and ends at the Liujiawan Interchange, the Ring Expressway. According to the plan, the two expressways are expected to be completed and opened to traffic within the year. At that time, the distance between the two places will be shortened to less than one-hour drive. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
