To activate “night economy” of Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- From June 5 to 6, Chongqing Yangjiaping Pedestrian Street was particularly lively at night. More than 20 literary and artistic youths from Chengdu and Chongqing gathered here, bringing two splendid performances of “Summer of the Band” and “Hip-Hop Summer”, interweaving and colliding under the city landmark “Jiulongmen”, which attracted many citizens.

Folk singers in Chengdu and Chongqing brought a classic original song, allowing the audience to enjoy the music feast in the evening breeze. Dancers in Chengdu and Chongqing also brought different styles of dance, which attracted the audience to dance with them.

These two wonderful “night shows” are just a microcosm of Chongqing’s night economic development. According to the China City Night Economic Impact Report (2019) jointly released by Tencent and Lookout Weekly, Chongqing ranked first in the list of “China’s Top Ten Night Economic Impact Cities”, and Chongqing also scored high on the list for its diversity of lifestyles. Tencent Marketing Big Data also showed that in the new first-tier cities, Chengdu was the most music-loving city, followed by Dongguan, Xi’an, and Chongqing.

In order to develop and prosper Chongqing’s night economy, Jiulongpo Culture and Tourism Commission will continue to deepen the creation of “Dazzling Jiulongmen” characteristic cultural brand, light up the city’s nightlife, and rely on culture and tourism to empower the night economy.

In addition, Jiulongpo District planned to pilot the construction of Chongqing nighttime cultural and tourism consumption cluster. The gathering area will integrate Yangjiaping Pedestrian Street, MIXC, Zhongshuge and other celebrity scenic spots, introduce Beijing Opera Troupe, Drama Club and other performance groups, add 24-hour self-service library, people-benefiting film screening, and introduce traditional crafts, cultural and creative products, time-honored brands, intangible cultural heritage and other brand stores, creating an experiential “Jiulong Night Tour” Demonstration Project integrating shopping, interaction and entertainment.
