Singapore Heritage Festival returns with first fully digital edition

2020-06-17 09:19:48

SINGAPORE, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore Heritage Festival's 17th edition will go fully digital for the first time, with a focus on lesser-known and colourful history of neighbourhoods of Tanjong Pagar, Pasir Ris and Kallang Basin.

From June 19 to July 5, the Singapore Heritage Festival (SHF) 2020: Digital Edition will present more than 80 programmes hosted on the SHF website, according to its media statement on Monday.

The line-up will include virtual guided tours, live-streamed demonstrations, online dialogue sessions, podcast tours, and short films over three weekends.

The full digital edition is available on the SHF website, which goes live here on Monday.

SHF 2020 is moving its festivities online for the first time since its conception in 2004, to allow for more people to access heritage content from the comfort of their homes.

"Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and probably even more so because of it, we wanted to work with our community partners to still deliver the festival to Singaporeans to provide some respite from all that is going on," SHF festival director David Chew said.

"SHF has always brought people together to discover and experience our heritage, and this year, we hope to continue this tradition, albeit digitally," said Chew, hoping to encourage festival-goers to have a deeper interest in Singapore's lesser-known history. Enditem
