CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In Yanzi Village, Tuxiang Town, Fengjie County, Chongqing, lots of lotus flowers are blooming like a slim girl dancing in the “jade plate”.

There are 629 households and more than 2,500 people in the whole Yanzi Village, Tuxiang Town. More than a quarter of the people go out to work in the whole year. In the past, land abandonment happened frequently. In 2017, on the basis of fully soliciting opinions from villagers, Secretary of the Village Branch introduced enterprises to develop the lotus root industry about 300 mu, including lotus roots about 250 mu and ornamental lotus flowers about 50 mu. The output value of that year was nearly 2 million yuan, and about 15 people worked nearby all year round.

“This year, we tentatively hold the 2nd Lotus Flower Festival at the end of July. By holding the Lotus Festival, we can further enhance the popularity of the lotus base in Yanzi Village, so that fruits planted, the poultry and livestock raised by villagers can be turned into commodities at home in the development of rural tourism.
