102 rail-bus transfer stations constructed in Chongqing main urban districts

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On June 29, Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd. said that 102 rail-bus transfer station have been built in the center of Chongqing main urban districts. The transfer distance of nearly 70% of stations is only 50 meters.
To make it easier for citizens to transfer from rail to bus, Chongqing plans to build and renovate 118 rail-bus transfer stations. The construction of this project began last December and 102 stations have been constructed so far. Among these stations, 77 stations are covered by 169 routes. Seventeen stations are improving the approval procedures and bus routes will be operated in early July. Bus routes will cover the remaining eight stations after the construction of municipal roads around them.
According to Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd., judging from the 102 rail-bus transfer stations that have been built, 69% of the stations have a transfer distance of less than 50 meters and 85% of them have a transfer distance within 100 meters. In the case of Longhead Park Station, passengers who want to transfer to a bus before need to walk about 400 meters to the Tiangong Avenue or Xingai Road stops. After the completion of the new bus station, the transfer distance between buses and rails is “zero”.
The transfer stations built also make bus routes “popular”. From the rails in operation and buses stopped at the transfer stations, the average daily passenger flow has reached 36,800, which is an increase of 53% compared with the previous daily passenger flow, an increase of 12,700 visits.
Meanwhile, more humane service facilities are constructed at the rail-bus transfer station after reconstruction. The rail-bus transfer station of Jiangbeicheng Station are equipped with LED electronic station signs. Awnings are constructed and the waiting seats are lengthened at Longhead Park Station so that more passengers can sit and wait buses in the station.
Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd. introduced that Chongqing will also build rail-bus transfer stations with sheltered corridors. Based on the basic service function of the newly built and renovated integrated rail-bus transfer stations, the sheltered corridors will be added so that passengers transfer to the bus are no longer exposed to the sun and rain. The first batch of four stations will be built on a pilot basis, including Haitangxi Station, Haixialu Station, Dongbu Park Station and Danzishi Station.
