Tourism survey for the second half of 2020

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the online travel platform Ctrip released the “Tourism Intention Survey Report for the Second Half of the Year”. The report showed that in the second half of this year, the intention for travel of people was increasing significantly, and over 80% of the survey respondents had a plan for travel.

About 82.6% of respondents have travel plans in the second half of the year

Ctrip Tourism Big Data Laboratory organized this questionnaire survey and obtained thousands of user samples through the network. Among the respondents, 37.5% were male and 62.5% were female. People among 25-34 accounted for 40.9%, followed by people among 35-44, accounting for 31.2%.

The results showed that: About 82.6% of the respondents were willing to travel in the second half of the year. For long-distance cross-provincial tourism, more than 80% are willing to travel. About 57.1% of the respondents said that if outbound tourism could not be restored this year, they would consider increasing the frequency of domestic travel.

In terms of time, July, October and August were the highest, with 43.1%, 42.6% and 41.9% respectively. Therefore, summer vacation and national day will become the peak of tourism in the second half of the year.

In terms of destinations, the most popular provinces are: Yunnan, Hainan, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Shaanxi, Guizhou, Shanghai, Chongqing, Beijing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Guangdong and Shandong.

Consumers are still willing to spend money on travel

What are the key factors that affect tourism intention? About 65.6% of them were most concerned about whether they had enough time to travel. The second is the price of tourism, with 36.6% of the proportion; the second is whether there is a suitable destination (21.5%) and travel partners (20.6%).

From the perspective of tourism budget, the proportion of 5,000 yuan to 10,000 yuan is the highest, accounting for 39%. About 30% plan to spend more than 10,000 on tourism. About 3% plan to spend more than 50,000 yuan, high-end tourism market is in high demand.

On the whole, people still regard tourism as a priority consumption item and are not prepared to reduce costs. Compared with last year, more than 70% of the respondents will increase tourism expenditure or remain stable.

Independent travel is the most popular

What kind of travel mode do you plan to choose for domestic tourism, especially long-distance tourism? According to the survey, the most popular is independent travel, with 61.5% of the proportion. Group tours are still popular, about 51.6%; followed by customized tours (25.6%), car rental and self-driving tours (19.4%), etc. The analysis of Ctrip’s recent orders also showed that independent travel, group travel within the province and customized travel are the three popular products, and the number of people renting cars through Ctrip has returned to the level of last year.

The survey found that tourists will make comprehensive use of online and offline channels in booking methods. Ctrip and other online travel platforms have the highest selection rate, with 45.3%.
