CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The movie industry of Chongqing is gaining a momentum of revival. As of July 25, 94 cinemas in Chongqing had resumed operation. 

July 26 marked the first weekend after the reopening. A reporter from Chongqing Daily found at the site that cinemas in Chongqing met a small movie-watching peak. 

According to “Dengta Professionals”, 4,956 tickets were sold in Chongqing’s cinemas on July 23, worthy of 114,900 yuan in total. And 24,300 tickets were sold on July 25, worthy of 679,300 yuan in total. 

“Vin Diesel is so handsome! I’ve watched the movie for the second time!” Liu Shaoqing posted on social media excitedly after watching BLOODSHOT starred by Vin Diesel at the CGV Movie Theater in Yuanzhu, Chongqing on July 26. 

Both BLOODSHOT and DOLITTLE were released on July 24. At present, the box offices of both movies reached more than ten million yuan, and the box office of DOLITTLE even reached more than 30 million yuan. 

Wang Xing, staff of the UME Cinema, said that the reopening of cinemas was just the beginning of the revival of the movie industry, and the real revival required continuous new releases. 

Fortunately, as cinemas resumed operation, the release dates of more and more movies have been determined. For example, JOJO RABBIT, the nominee for many Oscar Awards, starred by Scarlett Johansson, is to be released on July 31; another blockbuster 1917 is to be released on August 7. 

“I believe that as the prevention and control measures of cinema normalization prove to be effective, the restriction on the number of audiences in cinemas will be eased, and the cinema attendance will gradually return to its previous level.” Ding Zhong, a teacher of Sichuan International Studies University and the Founder of Chongqing Youth Film Festival, said.
