NANJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Three railways in the Yangtze River Delta region adopted QR codes in their ticketing system on a trial basis starting Tuesday, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd.
After registration of a prepaid e-card on China's official online railway ticket-booking platform 12306, passengers can enter and exit the station and complete payment by scanning a QR code that indicates their identities on gate machines.
The trains that offer such e-entrance services reserve second-class seats for passengers, and will charge them corresponding fees according to their travel ranges recorded.
The three railways connect 14 prefecture-level cities in east China's Shanghai Municipality, and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, marking them an important part of the railway passenger transport system along the Yangtze River. Enditem
