CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, a reporter from Chongqing Morning Post learned that the construction of mountain city footpath will be incorporated into the municipal key goals and tasks for people’s livelihood. Among the 17 key characteristic mountain city footpaths, the construction of 12 footpaths has been started, and the length of about 136km has been completed.

In 2020, the construction of seven characteristic mountain city footpaths are key, such as Nanshan Footpath in Nan’an District and Chongqing Iron and Steel Footpath in Dadukou District. The other five are speeding up the preliminary work and striving to start construction in the second half of the year.

Chongqing Iron and Steel Footpath

The first “aerobic runway on cliff line” in main urban areas

Chongqing Iron and Steel Footpath: It is about 22 km in length. The route starts from Taohuaxi Footpath in Jiulongpo District (planned) in the north, extends along the Chongqing Steel Cliff Line to the south, and ends at Yidu Park in Dadukou District. The construction duration is from 2020 to 2022.

There are Chongqing Industrial Museum, Yidu Ancient Town, Sui and Tang Dynasty Park, Siyuan Park and Yidu Park around the cliff line.

The plan design of Chongqing Iron and Steel Footpath combines the topography of the cliff line and the planning of the area, with one side facing the cliff and one side watching the river, which fully reflects the characteristics of the cliff line watching the river. The main idea of the footpath design is to build a high-quality mountain city footpath with Chongqing characteristics as the purpose, to build the first “aerobic runway on the cliff line” in the main urban areas of Chongqing, and the first “air runway on the roof” in western China. The project plans to start construction within this year.

Panxi River Footpath

Bidding for construction of Yubei Section has started

The Panxi River Footpath is located in Jiangbei District and Yubei District. The footpath has been fully incorporated into the Panxi River “Clear Water and Green Bank” improvement project. The footpath is mainly based on the theme of leisure and fitness, life and recreation, creating a waterfront and comfortable riverside footpath. At present, phase I of Jiangbei Section of the footpath is about 4.6km and construction has been completed. The construction bidding for the Yubei Section has started, and it is planned to start construction in October 2020.

Southwest Region Footpath

The preliminary plan has been completed and the design is being improved

The total length of the footpath in the southwest region is 7.8 km, which is mainly to show the construction achievements of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries in Chongqing. Relying on Zhongshan No.4 Road, Jialingqiao Road, Sixin Road, Xialuojiawan and Renmin Branch Road, the main ring road connects with several branches such as Zengjiayan Footpath.

The footpath is a street and lane footpath that connects important buildings in the southwestern region such as the People’s Auditorium, Cultural Palace, Datianwan Stadium, etc. Along the route, there are a large number of cultural preservation units and historical and cultural resources such as the Former Residence of Zhou Enlai, the Kuomintang Central Executive Committee site, the Parachute Tower, and the Former Residence of Pan Wenhua.
