CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Hen-pecked husband”, “having a chat”, “cheer up” (“耙耳朵”“摆龙门阵”“雄起”)… these familiar Chongqing dialects (重庆言子) have been loaded onto coaches of CRT Line 2. It’s learned that the “Chongqing dialect” themed train, originally designed by Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group, started from Zoo Station recently and was officially put into operation on Line 2.

It is understood that the train’s body was painted with the theme of “Chongqing dialect” of “A Tour in Chongqing, A Gain in Vision”. The interior of the carriage featured some common Chongqing dialects for name interpretation and a cartoon version of a Chongqing child. Through humorous cartoons, it recreated the local customs of Chongqing, making local passengers feel a sense of intimacy when they stepped into the carriage. At the same time, it also showed the unique charm of Chongqing dialects to visitors.

“In Chongqing, there is a kind of tenderness called hen-pecked husband.” “In Chongqing, there is a kind of stationery called pencil sharpener.”… By expanding these distinctive dialects in the form of sentences, they were not only catchy to the reader, but also better interpreted their meanings. The images of the Chongqing child in the cartoon series also showed the straightforward, funny and humorous character of Chongqing people in their daily lives, making passengers fall in love with Chongqing people and the city.

When this themed train was being decorated for the interior, the staff would often read out as they worked, “it's so much fun to see!” “I often encounter out-of-town friends who ask me what this dialect means and I can't answer them well, but now I know how to explain it.”… The illustrated decoration brought the Chongqing dialect to life, giving a strong visual impact. Everyone took out their mobile phones to record the intimate moments belonging to Chongqing people. Many passengers couldn’t help but pronounce to the Chongqing dialect that adorned the carriages, “aren’t these the words I say every day?
