CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, some of piers of rail transit in Chongqing were flooded. Many videos, in which Line 2 has become “trains on water” and seems to be running on the river, went viral on the Internet. Some people are worried that this will affect the operation of CRT Line 2. The reporter interviewed Yang Fuqiang, the technical staff of Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd. on this matter.

It is understood that CRT Line 2 has a total of 25 stations, of which the stations near the rivers are Huanghuayuan Station, Daxigou Station, Zengjiayan Station, Niujiaotuo Station and Liziba Station. There was partial flooding of piers from Linjiangmen to Huanghuayuan, from Huanghuayuan to Daxigou, and from Daxigou to Zengjiayan.

Yang Fuqiang revealed that, “this is the first time what happened in the more than 10 years since the construction and operation of CRT Line 2.” However, even the rail nearest to the water is still 7 or 8 meters away, so the public needn’t to worry about the river rising to the rail at all. “The answer to the public’s concerns about whether the flooding of the piers will affect Line 2 is also no.” Yang explained that the line was designed in consideration of water levels, while the rail transit signaling and power supply facilities are on the track beams where the river water can’t reach. Therefore, the public needn’t to worry about flooding affecting the operation of Line 2. The reporter learned that Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group has also been closely deploying for Line 2: it has launched a flood emergency plan; that is, the relevant personnel at all levels are in place and 24 hours on duty, while technicians need to work on the rail every hour interval. They can be aware of the operation of the equipment through manual monitoring and monitor meter. At the same time, various emergency supplies are also in place.
