CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Chongqing has been hit by a catastrophic flood rarely seen in history. The water level in Changshou District of Chongqing kept raising, leaving a large amount of sludge and waste blocking the playground and teaching building of Changshou No. 2 Middle School, causing great inconvenience to the school. After the flood, the officers of a detachment of Chongqing Armed Police Corps rushed to the scene with shovels, cut-resistant gloves, pickaxes and other tools to cooperate with the school staff for the dredging in many groups.

From August 21 to 23 after the flood passing through, the armed police detachment dispatched personnel for dredging and transferring materials of the masses for 3 days and nights in five places including Yuzhong, Banan, Nan’an, Tongliang and Hechuan along the basins of the Yangtze River, Jialing River, Fujiang River, Qujiang River and Shuangjiang River. As at 0:00 on August 24, the detachment officers had dredged sludge of 3,950 cubic meters and cleared roads of 4,100 meters. (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
