CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Urban Lighting Management Administration of Chongqing, after the floods, the municipal-directly managed lighting facilities along “four banks of two rivers” have been seriously impacted. At present, the Administration is actively carrying out post-disaster recovery work, and the lighting of some sections of the road along “four banks of two rivers” has been restored.

It is understood that after the floods, the box transformers, distribution boxes and pipelines under the jurisdiction and maintenance of the Administration have been damaged to different degrees, impacting the functional lighting along Nanbin Road, Changbin Road, Jiabin Road and other key sections, as well as the embankment landscape lighting along "four banks of two rivers" and the landscape lighting of Caiyuanba Bridge.

Before the floods, the Administration has cut off the power of 36 transformers in advance. At present, 3 professional teams have been organized to carry out cleaning and drying, safety inspection and preventive test on the submerged transformers. If the transformer passes the test, power will be sent in time; while if it fails, maintenance or replacement will be carried out in time. By 20:00 on August 26, 18 electric boxes have been tested and sent power and 13 flooded boxes have been dredged.

In order to restore functional lighting in some areas without power supply in a timely manner, the Administration strengthened communication and coordination with the power supply department, detected the box transformer facilities that were not submerged, and restored some street lamps in some areas in a timely manner. As of the evening of August 26, the functional lighting of Nanbin Road (the Section from Yangrenjie to Changjiahui, and that from Yangtze River Bridge to Garrison Area Tunnel), Babin Road (the Section from Lijiatuo Bridge to Garrison Area Tunnel), and Jiabin Road (from Zengjiayan Metro Station to the South Bridgehead of Jialing River Bridge) has resumed for operation.

The reporter learned that as for the section flooded but temporarily unable to restore the lighting, the Administration plans to, under the premise of ensuring the safety of pedestrians and vehicles, build temporary lighting and protect the public to travel at night. At present, the temporary lighting installation along Nanbin Road (from Changjiahui to Yangtze River Bridge) has been completed. (Translated by Liu Hongyan, Fathom Language Limited)
