CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- From August 30 to 31, children from primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Chongqing registered at their schools. Many students laughed with their classmates with brand new textbooks in hand, looking forward to the new semester.

“Make every student grow”

“Hello, welcome to our class, what’s your name?”

“My name is Wan Siyan and I’m 7 years old.”

At 9:30 a.m. on August 31, the first-grade students of Yuzhong Peizhi School arrived at the school to register. As a special education school, the School has only one class for first grade with only 10 students. On the first day of meeting with the students, Class Teacher Zhou Jiaxin had a brief conversation with each student and parent.

“It’s the kids’ first day of school and they need to take their time getting used to it,” Zhou Jiaxin said.

Peizhi School is known to enroll students from elementary to high school, with a total of nearly 110 students currently enrolled. “The School was flooded before the start of the school year. Through the efforts of our teachers, the School was opened smoothly. Next we will follow the teaching plan to make every student grow.” The head of the School said.

To help students be used to the school life

Unlike in the past, this year all primary and secondary schools have staggered registration times in order to avoid gathering. For example, Bashu Secondary School required students to arrive to class on a staggered schedule from 08:00-10:30. In order to avoid gathering and make it easier for students to register, the School has also published information about class and dorm room arrangements on the School’s WeChat Official Account for new students to check at any time.

In addition, the reporter found that education authorities of some district and county have created special guides for the start of the school year, which are distributed to students and parents to guide them in quickly adjusting to school life. For example, Shapingba District has developed psychological guidelines at the start of the school year and has published a psychological support hotline for teachers and students to guide them in protecting themselves from the epidemic and to remain optimistic.
