CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- What can be done in 12.73 seconds? Within the time, the 8-year-old boy from Nan’an District completed a quick twist of three-stage Rubik’s cube. With this result, he was crowned the winner of Chongqing Rubik’s Cube Open 3-stage Quick Twist Low Level Group in August.

On August 29, 8-year-old Wang Xingtong registered at Yangshida Campus of Nanping Experimental Primary School. He had just entered the third grade and posted the winner’s award on the vacation practice sheet assigned by the school. In the middle of August this year, Wang Xingtong participated in 2020 Xiamen Bank Cup Chongqing Rubik’s Cube Open and won the championship of the low level group with a score of 12.73 seconds.

Wang Xingtong started learning Rubik’s Cube in May last year when his mother showed him a video about it. The little hands in the video quickly turned the colorful “box”. Every second was unmissable and wonderful. At that moment, Wang Xingtong was fascinated by the Rubik’s Cube. Wang Xingtong’s father said that Wang Xingtong is willing to settle down and spend time figuring out as long as he is interested in something.

In addition to talent and interest, Wang Xingtong’s accomplishment is also due to his own hard work. Before Wang Xingtong participated in Chongqing Rubik’s Cube Open, the organizing committee made a rank by the preliminary rounds. At first, Wang Xingtong was ranked 2nd in the preliminaries, and he wasn’t happy with that result. In addition to a regular daily practice schedule, Wang Xingtong also added practice in order to achieve his dream. “In addition to rank, I’d like to set a new record by competing, and it would be nice to beat my teacher’s record.”

Through hard training, Wang Xingtong’s performance was getting better and faster. “I never thought that I would actually beat my teacher’s record in this competition. Next time, I want to prove myself again in World Cube Association Competition in China.” (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
