Tokyo stocks open lower following Wall Street's downbeat lead

TOKYO, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday, following losses late last week on Wall Street as technology-linked issues were offloaded.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 109.03 points, or 0.47 percent, from Friday to 23,096.40.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.77 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,612.83.

Information and communication, mining and construction issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
