The “Grimm Fairy Tale Night” of Chongqing Library has been successfully held for three consecutive seasons, in the form of immersive experience, leading parents and families to relive the world’s classic fairy tales and regain the joy of reading. The “Grimm Fairy Tale Night” is an innovative brand of Chongqing Library’s citizen reading activity. It has won the IFLA International Marketing Nomination Award. It is not only a cultural hot topic and cultural brand in Chongqing, but also established a bridge for Chongqing, China and the world in the process of international cultural exchanges. Once launched in 2017, it caused a sensation and attracted nearly 460,000 people. At that time, citizens can grab free tickets via Chongqing Library’s official WeChat, Weibo and Douyin accounts.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Library, there is a special origin and significance for the “Grimm Fairy Tale Night”. Mr. Yang Wuneng, the translator of the “Grimm Fairy Tale”, grew up in Shibati, Yuzhong District, and is a native of Chongqing. “For more than half a century, he has devoted himself to literary translation and is known as ‘Fu Lei of the German-speaking world.’ In 2015, Mr. Yang Wuneng donated many of his translated works, manuscripts, letters and other precious materials to Chongqing Library and Chongqing Library specially set up a “Library in library —— Bashu Translation and Weng Translation Literature Library, responsible for collection, arrangement and display. The ‘Grimm Fairy Tale Night’ is to promote this precious collection of Chongqing Library to readers and restore them to readers,” the person in charge said.
