Dazu Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance Training Institute established
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Wangu Town, Dazu District, Chongqing Municipality, in order to promote the culture development and carry forward the intangible cultural heritage Dazu Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance, Wangu Town has invested more than 1.5 million yuan to build Dazu Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance Training Institute which has been firstly selected as one of the first municipal intangible training institutes of Chongqing and will officially open to the public free of charge from the end of this month.

Located at Group 1, Daxiong Community, Wangu Town, the Institute covers an inside area more than 300 square meters, integrating functions including carp-shaped lantern exhibition and performance. It is composed of six exhibition and experience areas including development history, activity silhouette, inheritance and development, important activities, production process and feature film demonstration. At the Institute, the public can not only learn the knowledge of Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance, but also learn from Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance inheritors and participate in the production and performance of Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance.

“Since then, the fans of Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance have the same home,” said the person in charge of Wangu Town. The Institute will be used as the base for spreading and popularizing Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance culture, cultivating more folk fans of Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance, making it become a new web celebrity along Bashu cultural tourism corridor.
It is reported that Wangu Carp-shaped Lantern Dance is originated from Wangu Town, of a long history and unique charming, and the lantern dance with distinctive national features. It was started from the end of Tang Dynasty, boasts a history more than 1,200 years, and is the unique dance popular among people and in the image of carp.
