In the canteens of Southwest University, dishes have been introduced in accordance with the principle of small portions and precise quantification of staple food, so as to facilitate teachers and students to choose and buy reasonably according to the amount of food and avoiding food waste. In the guarantee food canteen, 25g-weight “mini steamed bread”, small dishes and so on have been added. The specialty dining canteen carried out weighing and measuring buffets, and required to order meals on demand and eat as much as wanted, so as to guide students to develop healthy and good eating habits, and turn the action of avoiding waste into a long-term conscious behavior.

It is reported that the small dishes whose weight and price are 60% of the standard dishes are not “neglected” but favored by students. “Much amount will be greasy, while less amount tasteless, so small dishes are just right," said the student who bought the small dishes.
