CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 23, “A Land of Natural Beauty, A City of Cultural Appeal” - Chongqing Works Exhibition of Famous Chinese Painters was officially launched. 241 works by 167 painters were unveiled at Wulong Fairy Mountain Boxiang Art Museum. The painting exhibition will be held at Fairy Mountain Boxiang Art Museum and Chongqing Art Museum for 15 days respectively. It will last until October 23, and be open to the public for free.

With the theme of “A Land of Natural Beauty, A City of Cultural Appeal”, this event depicted the beauty of Chongqing’s mountains and waters, highlights Chongqing’s beauty and temperament, and promoted the construction of “land of beautiful mountains and rivers” with the power of literature and art. Since the exhibition was launched on September 20, 2018, more than 160 famous contemporary Chinese painters have been invited in 4 batches to collect styles in Wulong, Jiangjin, Hechuan, Nanchuan, Fengjie, Wansheng and other places. After more than one year of creative polishing, a total of more than 200 works reflecting the natural scenery and cultural heritage of Chongqing have been released.

This exhibition focused on 241 works of 167 painters (8 calligraphy works and 233 Chinese painting works). Representative works included Kuimenguan Scenic Spots by Ma Xinlin, Listening to Waterfall of Bayu by Zhang Fuxing, Morning Glory of Qutang by Shi Jiangcheng, etc. These works have painted the magnificent landscapes, scenic spots and historical sites in Chongqing with vigorous brushstrokes, or portrayed the traditional Bayu style with delicate techniques.

“For Chinese artists, Chongqing is a place full of surprises and makes you unwilling to leave.” Ma Xinlin, Secretary of the Academy of Calligraphy and Painting of China Central Institute for Culture and History, said that Chongqing’s natural landscapes and cultural and historical features are of great ornamental value and artistic expression potential.

At the exhibition site, a white-haired old man who was watching the exhibition smiled and exchanged thoughts with people next to her. She is Song Yali, Director of the Chinese Women Painters Association, and two of her works have also been on display in this exhibition. “Chongqing is very fascinating and worth studying. Its landscapes are different from those of Lingnan, Central Plains, and northeast China. I especially like the waters of Chongqing, and I am planning to paint Chongqing with a brush.”

In addition to masters of calligraphy and painting, there are also many calligraphy and painting enthusiasts. Citizens Ms. Zhan and Ms. Guo took a bus to Wulong Fairy Mountain at 6 o’clock in the early morning to come to watch the exhibition.
