JINAN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Archaeologists have discovered a paleolithic ruins site dating back some 30,000 to 50,000 years in east China's Shandong Province, according to the provincial cultural relics and archaeological institute.

The site, located at the downstream of a reservoir in Yishui County, was believed to belong to the middle or late period of the Old Stone Age.

According to a researcher with the institute, a large number of animal fossils as well as chipped and polished stone tools were unearthed in the site.

The artifacts reflect the lifestyle and tool-making of early human beings, and are significant to the study on ancient humans in Shandong, said the researcher. Enditem
