560,000 express deliveries left behind over 3 days during the holidays

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, how busy were Chongqing people out and about? On October 9, data from Cainiao Courier Station said that during the eight-day holidays, it provided free storage for about 17 million people for more than three days, of which, 560,000 pieces of Chongqing express was kept for more than 3 days, ranked second in the country. 

According to Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, the number of tourists in the eight days of National Day holidays reached 637 million. As hundreds of millions of consumers travelled, Cainiao Courier Station provided free storage for about 17 million people for more than three days. On top of that, some 5.3 million people were given free storage of their deliveries for more than five days, and nearly 1.3 million even for more than a week.

According to the data, more people would travel in large and medium-sized cities, especially in provincial capitals. The cities that kept the most packages for a long time were Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hefei and Shanghai.

“In order for customers to travel with less worries, we widened the space before the holidays, where more deliveries can be placed.” Zhang Chaoyao, head of Cainiao Courier Station of Phase 1, CRC Twenty-Four City, said that the station was open during the holidays and received tens of thousands of deliveries, and that it kept more than 500 deliveries for more than 3 days, and more than 100 even for more than 7 days.
