Tokyo stocks open lower as continued U.S. stimulus impasse dents mood
TOKYO, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday after Wall Street's weak lead overnight, with concerns growing over the continued impasse between Congress and the White House over further coronavirus-related stimulus.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 66.82 points, or 0.28 percent, from Wednesday to 23,559.91.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 2.57 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,641.33.
Pharmaceutical, precision instrument, and information and communication issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
