The driver turns the car into a “recreation room”

There are a variety of entertaining items in Yao Xianming’s car.

The messages left on the top of Yao Xianming’s car.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- What if you get bored when taking a ride? Normally, there are two choices for most of you, either to bow your heads down playing with your phones, or to have a talk with the driver.

Will there be more choices? Chongqing DiDi Driver Yao Xianming’s answer is yes. In his car, you can leave messages on the message wall if you like social networking, you can play with educational toys if you like brainstorming, and you can read some bestsellers if you prefer to stay quiet. Even if you are a “karaoke master”, you can "sing" all the way home in his car.

Some passengers have called Driver Yao Xianming’s car an “entertainment room”. In fact, Driver Yao has only one simple wish. “The world out there turns around too fast. I hope my passengers can be happy in the car for this moment.”

My dream is to earn my own bread

Yao Xianming, who was born in 1985, is a sincere and kindly young man. Born in a rural area of Chongqing, he gave up schooling after he graduated from junior high school. Like other contemporaries in his hometown, he began to work in his young age.

“At that time, I was young, and I didn’t know what I could do. I just checked what others did.” Under the leadership of his fellow villagers, Yao Xianming joined the hairdressing industry, which taught him to realize his value with both hands. In July this year, Yao Xianming improved himself by turning himself from hairdresser to DiDi Driver.

Although both jobs are of the service industry, he is working for himself now rather than working for others. Yao Xianming’s attitude remains changed. “The purpose of hairdressing is to show your customers their most beautiful side, and we also have to show that when we drive a ride-hailing car, because only beauty can make people feel happy.” Yao Xianming considers that it is the era of dreams now. He shuttles through the streets of Chongqing every day, which is just like carrying people’s dream towards the best of themself.

I hope the passengers can be happy in my car

To please others is to please yourself.

Yao Xianming proved his words with action. He has set up a colored light belt at the top of the car with exquisite clips, leaving different color notes on each clip with colorful pens accompanied.

The armrest box of the front seat is transformed into a small cabinet, which contains 8 books, 2 Rubik’s cubes, 1 nine-chain ring and 1 microphone.

What’s the first impression of Yao Xianming’s car for some passengers was that the car was creative and heart-warming.

Now, three months later, Yao Xianming has received more than 3,000 orders, and there are more than 200 messages one after another on the message wall up there in his car.

“Sometimes when I park my car to have a rest, I will read these messages. I feel very happy with great motivation inside.” On Yao Xianming’s message wall, the reporter of Chongqing Morning Post saw that many passengers left their happiness and dreams in the car. There is a good wish for happiness and well-being of the whole family, a small vision of “having a boyfriend/girlfriend” as soon as possible, and a positive blessing for success in the college entrance examination…

Once Yao Xianming took the order of a passenger who was in a bad mood. Since Yao Xianming took the order, the passengers have been urging Yao Xianming to pick him up as soon as possible. “Later, after he got on the car, he kept flipping through the messages in the back. His emotion gradually improved, and finally he told me, “Sir, drive slowly, and I’ll leave a note as well.”

“The world out there turns around so fast. I was thinking that I would decorate a space in the car so that passengers could focus on themselves during the period from the moment they get on the car to their destination. If they calm down, they will feel better.” Sometimes Yao Xianming can encounter passengers who prefer to read or sing out aloud, which have become wonderful moments in his memory of DiDi driver. “I will continue to keep this special way of recording the humanities. When looking back, I will get a lot of surprises. After passengers got off the car, they commented to me on the platform saying I was a good driver in China. In fact, I am just an ordinary driver. It is my duty to send every passenger to their destination safely in a timely manner, as well as making you feel happy all the way.” (Translated by Wang Junli, Fathom Language Limited)
