CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, as one of the most important events in the 80th anniversary of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing jointly held a Lighting Ceremony of David Sculpture named "Lighting Up the Future" at the museum in Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Before the ceremony, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing awarded the medal named "Star of Italy" to Pang Maokun, who is President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

The original bronze replica of Michelangelo's David Sculpture customized by Sichuan Fine Arts Institutes was hoisted from Italy to Chongqing on December 14, 2018.

It is reported that the David Sculptor was made from the original model by a family enterprise that has been engaged in the restoration of traditional sculptures in Italy for about 300 years. The original mold used this time was the mold used to reproduce the replica of the David Sculptor in the central of the square, located in Michelangelo, Florence in 1910, with a history of 108 years.

They first awarded Pang Maokun with the medal of "star of Italy" in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion of Italian culture and the promotion of cultural and artistic exchanges between Italy and China. Italy said that this year was also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, and winning this award for Mr. Pang was particularly meaningful.
