CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 30, at the patriotic education theme event in which Chongqing teenagers celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the national flag guard of Chongqing Railway Secondary School marched towards the school’s flag-raising stand in a uniform pace. Along with the solemn national anthem, the five-star red flag rose slowly. After more than a month, when the members recalled the scene, they still couldn't hide their excitement. On the playground, Li Shouqin, a former soldier of Tiananmen national flag class, is giving a warm-up explanation to the members of the campus national flag guard team before formal training. Raising the flag, turning around, setting up the flag, lowering the flag, pressing the button, displaying the flag, standing at attention, and saluting... These movements seem simple, but in order to achieve "zero error", it still needs long-term training.

Standing on steps is one of the ways to train military posture. It is mainly to help the team members to move their center of gravity forward to enhance the stability of the body, and at the same time exercise the strength of the team members’ legs, so that the team members can feel the power characteristics from the legs to the whole body.

During the training, team members putting on a uniform can attract many students to stop and take pictures. Team member Zhou Yufei said: “I was nervous but also a little happy when I saw students watching us while training.” Today, the national flag guard is a beautiful landscape of the campus.

The national flag class of Chongqing Railway Secondary School has been established for a long time. The national flag guards have developed on this basis. They are responsible for major festivals, important events, and weekly flag-raising ceremonies, and the regular training is held every Monday afternoon on the third and fourth quarters. There are currently 24 students in the national flag class, including 14 boys and 11 girls.

In order to correct the standing posture of the team members, Li used the method he applied to train in the Tiananmen National Flag Class; that is, carrying on the wooden cross, which will make the shoulders, waists, and necks of the members a flat surface, and further increase their momentum.

In addition to carrying on the wooden cross, the members also need to practice through training methods such as holding playing cards, doing planks, and standing on steps. Li said: "Only by strengthening training can we be down-to-earth, sonorous and heroic."

Marching, stepping, standing, walking, holding a gun, displaying and lowering the flag, and saluting... These actions seem to be simple, but in order to complete those seemingly simple movements, the members have to train hundreds of times a day. "Since we have chosen to be a member of flag guard, we should use our youth to guard this sacred national flag," the members said that.

With neat steps, the members walked on the playground. In order not to affect students' learning, they can only spend spare time for training. The members of the national flag guard team were screened layer by layer. Zhou Yufei, a member of the team, recalled that "At that time, there were hundreds of applicants in the school, and only 24 people were selected."

After the training, members of the national flag guard team gathered around Li Shouqin. In the eyes of these children, Li is their role model.

Li is extremely proud of watching the team members move firmly and raise the national flag high, "As if seeing what I looked like when raising the flag."
