CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Forestry Bureau, Chongqing “Wildlife Protection Publicity Month” and “Chongqing Wetland Protection Publicity Week” were officially launched in Jinfo Mountain National Nature Reserve.

More than 100 photos of rare and endangered animals and plants in Chongqing were displayed at the event. Interactive games such as migrating Chinese merganser and helping water birds find homes were played to help the public understand the local wild world of Chongqing. Citizens can also have a look at the city’s 22 national wetland parks with beautiful scenery and rich biodiversity.

The tourist Fengye took her children to participate in the Chinese Merganser game. For the first time, she learned about the beautiful creatures that pass by Chongqing every year. She said, “the clear, free-flowing river is not only everyone’s childhood dream, but also many beautiful animals. I hope something can be done to clean up Chongqing’s rivers and lakes and keep more wild birds.”

Last year, Chongqing issued Regulations on Wildlife Protection in Chongqing, designating November as Chongqing Wildlife Protection Publicity Month. This year marks the Second Annual Wildlife Conservation Awareness Month.

It is worth mentioning that Chongqing has also built 22 national wetland parks with a total planned area of 25261.33 hectares. Among them, Jiulongpo Caiyun Lake, Bishan Xiuhu Lake, Zhongxian Huanghua Island, Dianjiang Yingfeng Lake, Qianjiang Apeng River, Youyang Youshui River, Rongchang Laixi River, Tongnan Fujiang, Kaizhou Hanfeng Lake, Fengdu Longhe, Wushan Dachang Lake, Wansheng Qingshan Lake, Nan’an Yinglong Lake, Chengkou Bashan Lake, Nanchuan Lixiang Lake, Xiushan Daxi, Shizhu Tengzigou, Tongliang Anju, Liangping Shuanggui Lake and other 19 national wetland parks have passed successively. The State Forestry Administration inspected and officially awarded the license. Three national wetland parks including Wulong Furong Lake, Hechuan Sanjiang and Qijiang Tonghui River are preparing for national acceptance. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
