2020-12-02 09:15:17

LHASA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A shore power project has been put into operation at Lhasa Konggar International Airport in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The project was designed to replace the fuel-consuming auxiliary power unit with electricity transmitted from the air bridges as the source of power supply for parked airplanes.

After its operation, the project will likely save 3,738 tonnes of aviation fuel and a fuel cost of about 17.75 million yuan (about 2.7 million U.S. dollars) a year, greatly cutting the emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide nitrogen oxide.

The shore power project, financed and completed by the State Grid Corporation of China, is the first of its kind in Tibet. Enditem
