Chongqing Library receives 53 pen drawing manuscripts depicting battles against COVID-19

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “I believe that this battle is a significant event in the history of our republic. I was shocked and touched by the heroes fighting on the battlefront. I decided to record the critical juncture of this great event, so as to remember our great heroes...”. Recently, Chen Yongkang, a painter and writer, bestowed Chongqing Library with 53 pen drawing manuscripts depicting the battle against COVID-19, adding new contents to the “Documents Collection Activity Themed on Chongqing’s Fighting Memory”.

It is reported that this document collection activity of Chongqing Library was launched in April this year, and so far, has raised over 1,000 works of literature, calligraphy and physical form. Chongqing Library will carefully preserve these precious documents and display this historical and cultural memory they carry to readers when the time is right. According to Song Wei, the Deputy Director of the Cataloging Center of Chongqing Library, the manuscript is the accumulation and recording of the life and creating experience of writers and artists themselves. They are of great historical and academic significance, serving as important local literature. Mr. Chen Yongkang gratuitously bestowed his own manuscript collection, which manifests the spirit and responsibility of carrying forward of Chongqing local writers.

When he was interviewed by the reporter, Chen Yongkang said, “I was full of passion when drawing, and deeply touched by the brave deeds of medical personnel when people needed them at hard times.” Chen Yongkang told the reporter that currently he had created a total of 90 pen drawings, among which 45 depict medical personnel fighting disease and 50 depict major disease resistance events.
