CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On December 5, the right line of Tuzhu Tunnel in the west section of the second horizontal line of the Chongqing Expressway was completed. It is expected that the two lines will be completed within this year. After completion, it will only take 15 minutes from Daxuecheng area to Yubei District, and citizens’ travel will become more convenient.

According to Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban Construction Commission, as to the end of 2019, the total mileage of urban roads in central Chongqing has reached 5327.8km, and the newly-added road mileage has reached 954.9km. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Chongqing vigorously promoted infrastructure construction. By the end of the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, the urban roads in the central city area were open to traffic with a mileage of about 5577.8km, the number of river-crossing bridges could reach 30, and the number of mountain tunnels could reach 18.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban Construction Commission, as to the end of 2019, the total mileage of urban roads in the central city area reached 5327.8km, and the newly-added road mileage was 954.9km. Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban Construction Commission has continued to promote the continued construction of approximately 815 kilometers of urban roads in the “8 bridges and 5 tunnels”. 3 new river-crossing bridges were added, bringing a total of 30 bridges across the river to a total of 30; 4 mountain-crossing tunnels were added, and a total of 18 mountain-crossing tunnels were built.

In order to solve the bottleneck problem of the passage across the river, during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban Construction Commission also vigorously promoted the construction of 11 cross-river bridges. By the end of the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, 3 cross-river bridges were completed and opened to traffic, namely Cuntan Yangtze River Bridge, Gaojiahuayuan Double Track Bridge in the Inner Ring, and the Zengjiayan Bridge. The construction of 12 mountain tunnels has been promoted. As of the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, 4 mountain tunnels have been completed and opened to traffic, namely Zhongliangshan Tunnel Double track, Huayan Tunnel, Longzhouwan Tunnel and Xiema Tunnel.
