Dangdang Bookstore

Located at Jiefangbei Guotai Plaza, it’s the paragon of Dangdang.com to march towards the physical bookstore.

Inside, there is a huge 10-meter-tall artistic book wall. Th vertical book wall is connected seamlessly with the round roof. You will be marveled when you look up, feeling like living in the dreams presented by movies. It can not only satisfy your desire for reading, but also be appreciated as a rare piece of art. Here, some random shots will form a collection of beautiful photos.

All books here are real except for the calligraphy on the roof and other high places. There are literature works, classic picture books and curriculum materials, which are easy to get.

Besides, there are arch reading booth in the store, all with special design. Reading space is also spared between the shelves, manifesting the value attached by the Bookstore to reading. This unit design offers both space for reading and a beautiful view, resembling the conception in a Chinese poem, “the bright moon adorned your window, while you adorned someone else’s dream.”

Junge Bookstore

You may think that we made a mistake in recommending you Junge Bookstore. After all, what’s beautiful about an outdoor garden, a cat, a leg-lost bamboo chair, some old wooden desks…? Let me tell you that you are wrong.

Leaving from Huangjiaoping Center Street Bus Station, and going through an old lane, you will see the small pragmatic and artistic Junge Bookstore sitting beside the railway.

Different kinds of maps, books and collections recording the history of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway are preserved here. Besides, cultural lectures, open cinema, cultural and creative market on weekends, food day and other activities are held on a regular basis.

After Junge Bookstore got famous online, visitors came here from the opposite side of the railway. In the Bookstore, you can order a covered-bowl tea and sit for a whole day. When it’s time to eat, you can even have a home-cooking meal with Junge. The Bookstore offers no menu or take-out service, and provides you a meal at 15 yuan. On Sunday, you can also enjoy an outdoor movie.

Wuyue Academy

Located on the 7th floor of a residential building, it looks like an academy from a distance. However, if you look closely, it’s more like a botanical garden hiding in the city.

From washbasin, toy car, to messenger bag and leather shoes, every piece of things you can think of is used to its utmost for growing green plants.

In addition to these, there are obsolete motorbikes, rusty doorplates, enameled cups, old sewing machines, archaic hand-operated telephones, which will remind you of the 1980s and 1990s in a second.

Most of the books here belong to the owner’s own collections and some of them are endowed by visitors as souvenirs. Compared to textbooks, the collections here are more cultural.
