CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The red leaves of the mountains look like colored haze, and the colored haze reflects the Three Gorges year after year. The red leaves of the Three Gorges, which grow naturally in Wushan Region of Chongqing, have been skillfully carved and transformed into stunning cultural and creative products, becoming not only a popular tourist product, but also “golden leaves” for local villagers to increase their income.

This idea came from Wang Tao, Deputy Director of Department of Arts and Culture, Chongqing Literary Federation. At the end of 2017, he came to Shuanglong Town, Wushan County, a municipal deeply impoverished town, as one of the members of Poverty Alleviation Group of Chongqing Party Committee Propaganda Department, and served as the First Secretary of Anjing Village and head of the working team in the Village.

Anjing village is located in the core of National 5A Scenery Sites of Little Three Gorges and Little Little Three Gorges Scenic Areas. In autumn and winter every year, the mountains are full of red leaves and the trees are dressed in beautiful colors. To him, red leaves of Wushan are not ordinary: the red leaves have been infiltrated by the Goddess, the rain and clouds, countless celebrities and poets with poems of Wushan for thousands of years, and have become the messengers of love.

Therefore, he designed a special template by collecting and creating. With skillful hands and burins, he carves red leaves into scenes of mandarin ducks, macaques, farming, as well as a series of 12 Chinese zodiac signs and folk characters, and makes them into red leaf bookmarks and red leaf business cards.

Today, the Red Leaf Carving Studio in Anjing Village has been registered as a company, and has well-trained eight villagers to create leaf carvings and act as the leader in getting rid of poverty and becoming rich. At the same time, it has developed a series of Wushan red leaves carving products, which are placed on the tourism products counter as a special gift of the Three Gorges.
