CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Few days ago, Chongqing University Audible Library held a reading activity themed on “A Date with the President’s Reading List”.

The shared book was Wangujianghe (《万古江河》), which was recommended to freshmen by Zhang Zongyi, the President of Chongqing University in 2020. This book involves many themes, including the folk life, thoughts and faiths, literature and art, the evolution of economy and society, the development of science, and the exchanges between different cultures. With the bird’s eye view insights on the larger picture and the detailed description of daily life, this book was selected to inspire the interest of students and faculties in traditional Chinese culture.

After the activity, many students shared their opinions on this activity. Li Mengdi, a student from the College of Computer Science believed that these activities had changed her reading habit, in particular her reading dimension. She said: “before the activity, my reading list was monotonous, mainly focusing on literature and literary history. This reading activity has helped me a lot by recommending me books in philosophy, history and psychology. They broadened my horizon and helped my study in other areas in Chongqing University.”

It is reported that this activity will last until June next year. In this activity, three books were selected as required readings for freshmen of Grade 2020. Through experts introduction, reading lectures and saloons, the creation of literary works, and the introduction of the fine traditional culture into the University, the reading depth, accuracy and breadth will be boosted in an all-round way.
