HOHHOT, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Over 700 people participated in the National Physical Exercise Standard test in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.

The test was divided into junior, senior and and elderly groups in line with age. The test covered five physical aspects, including speed, endurance, strength, sensitivity and flexibility.

The two-day test attracted over 700 people, most of whom were members of running groups, cycling groups or fitness clubs.

Zhang Bin, a cycling enthusiast, took the test and got a good result. Zhang has been riding for over four years along with other cyclists circling the suburbs or nearby cities on the weekends, riding at least 70 kilometers each week.

"Health is the best gift from exercise," said Zhang.

According to Liu Yajun, a member of Hohhot Sports Bureau, this was the first time that the "National Physical Exercise Standard" test was held in Hohhot and it will be held every year in the future.

"People's awareness of fitness has been greatly enhanced [by the test], and now more people are willing to take part in daily exercises," said Liu. Enditem
