Chongqing ranked in top 8 of popular cities in China for New Year’s Day holiday

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the countdown to 2021 begins, many people are already excited and ready to take a trip to welcome the New Year. According to the Travel Trend for New Year’s Day 2021 released by Qunar, number of hotel reservations on New Year’s Day 2021 is 1.8 times that of last year, up 80% from last year. Among them, Chongqing ranks 8th, with hotel bookings increasing by 90% over the same period last year.

In terms of hotel bookings in popular destinations, in addition to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Hangzhou, Sanya and Xiamen are also the most popular destinations for tourists. Changsha becomes the first popular Internet celebrity city in 2021. Qunar data shows that hotel bookings on New Year’s Day in Guangzhou, Sanya and Xi’an have increased by more than 100% year-on-year. Compared with the same period last year, the average price paid by hotels in the three places has risen to varying degrees. The average price of star hotels in Guangzhou increased by 26% year-on-year, increased by 19% of Sanya year-on-year, and increased by 7% of Xi’an.

Although hotel prices are rising, travel costs are generally lower than that of last year. According to statistics, the average price paid for a domestic flight on New Year’s Day in 2021 is 615 yuan, 137 yuan cheaper than that of the same period last year.
