CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In July this year, Chongqing Chengtou Road & Bridge Management Co., Ltd. issued an announcement that, for the convenience of the public and visitors, sightseeing elevators will be installed on both sides of Dongshuimen Bridge to reach the bridge directly. Where is the progress of the installation of the sightseeing elevators of Dongshuimen Bridge? The reporter from Chongqing Evening News made a field visit. The steel truss erection of the main structure of the sightseeing elevators has been completed. Workers at the construction site said that one elevator is expected to be completed by Spring Festival at the earliest.

According to introduction, a total of three lifts will be installed at Dongshuimen Bridge, with one escalator and one elevator on the side of Yuzhong District and one elevator on the side of Nan’an District. In particular, an elevator will be provided on the south side of Dongshuimen Bridge on the side of Yuzhong District. An escalator will be installed on the north side of Dongshuimen Bridge on the side of Yuzhong District, and an accessible ramp will be also provided next to the escalator, which is about 300 meters long and will be made into a pleasant garden with winding paths. The reporter saw that the steel truss erection of the main structure of the escalator is also basically completed. The escalator is arranged in steps and lifted in turn from the road surface of Changbin Road directly to the bridge deck of Dongshuimen Bridge.

The reporter learned that in the absence of the elevator on the south side of Dongshuimen Bridge on the side of Yuzhong District, visitors have to take a detour to a remote path beside the former Wanglongmen Cable Railway to reach Binjiang Road and then walk a few minutes to the Huguang Guild Hall, or walk in stone staircase inside the Chaotianmen Wholesale Market to reach Dongshuimen Old Street. Both ways take over ten minutes to pass and the roads are rather remote. When the sightseeing elevators are open, visitors will be able to exit from Exit 8 of Xiaoshizi Station and take the elevator to Huguang Guild Hall or Dongshuimen Old Street, as well as enjoy the beautiful night view of the Mountain City from the Bridge in a maximum of 5 minute, without climbing up or down stairs on the round trip ands.
