CHONGQING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 64,013 TEUs of cargo were transported via a land-sea freight route from southwest China's Chongqing Municipality to overseas destinations in the first 11 months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 41.6 percent, local authorities said on Thursday.

The cargo was worth in excess of 12 billion yuan (about 1.84 billion U.S. dollars), a surge of 32.9 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the port and logistics office of the municipal government.

By the end of November, 150,901 TEUs with a total value of 27.84 billion yuan had been transported via the route from Chongqing since it opened in September 2017.

The route is part of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a trade and logistics passage jointly built by Singapore and provincial-level regions of western China. Chongqing is a center of operation for the corridor.

The corridor's number of final destinations has grown to 250 ports in 96 countries and regions, according to its logistics and operating center. Enditem
