China to see decline in railway trips in New Year holiday

BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- China is expected to see 34 million railway passenger trips during the upcoming three-day New Year holiday, down 6.9 percent year on year, the national railway operator said Wednesday.
A daily average of 8.5 million railway trips is expected to be made from Friday to Sunday, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
Railway passenger flow will peak on Friday, with 9.5 million trips expected.
Authorities will take precautions against COVID-19, including measures to prevent train overload and arrange separate seats for passengers with fever symptoms, the company said. Enditem
