CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Seeing other roommates go home, I feel a little lonely.” Zhou Yujie, a student of Southwest University from Xinjiang, decided not to go home during this winter vacation.

Psychosomatic feedback training

As the winter holiday arrives, colleges and universities across the country are closing down, and Chongqing is no exception. This year, according to the epidemic prevention and control arrangements, many college students from middle and high risk areas chose not to go home for the Spring Festival... In response to this situation, recently, Southwest University carried out the Psychological Support Group Activity themed on “Heartwarming in Cold Winter” for students staying on campus to relieve their anxiety and loneliness.

Students at the Group Room of the Mental Health Education and Service Center of Southwest University burst into gales of laughter, and such room was the site of the psychological group activity specially held for the students who had stayed in school. Previously, students made reservations by themselves after seeing information about the Activity themed on “Heartwarming in Cold Winter” in their class group or on the University’s official account.

Sand-play

Xie Qinyi, Deputy Director of the Department of Student Affairs of Southwest University, said the Activity included more than a dozen of group counseling activities to ease students’ anxiety and loneliness, help them make friends and enrich their winter vacation life. “In addition, we have set up a team of psychological volunteers and opened a 24-hour Sunshine Psychological Hotline to provide students with psychological support anytime and anywhere. We also offer online and offline individual psychological counseling to provide personalized services and help according to students’ specific situations,” she said.

The reporter saw that participating in various psychological counseling activities, they not only helped students to know themselves, perceive their own psychological conditions, get positive guidance, relieve anxiety, and promote spiritual growth. At the same time, group activities also provided opportunities for students to meet new friends, keep company with each other and reduce loneliness.

It is understood that it is the first time for many students to leave their parents for the Spring Festival. A person in charge of the Student Affairs Office of Southwest University said that the University will continue this kind of activities to bring warmth to students in the cold winter.
