The giant mural “Huangjue Evening Ferry” attracted a large number of visitors at the south end of the Yangtze River Bridge on January 3.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- When passing by the south end of the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge on Nanbin Road, the reporter saw that the normally smooth Interchange ramp from Convention & Exhibition Center to Nanbin Road was experiencing slow traffic, which was due to a large number of people visiting “Huangjue Evening Ferry” mural at the exit of the ramp.

The “Huangjue Evening Ferry” mural is on the ramp of the interchange at the south end of the Yangtze River Bridge, where there are many vehicles and more complicated road conditions.

The reporter talked to the police who rushed to the site to divert traffic and learned that “Huangjue Evening Ferry” mural was completed in early January, and not many people came to visit before today, and the same time the site was visited only by a dozen of people. There was a sudden surge in the number of visitors that morning, with over a hundred members of the public visiting the site at the same time. This area is the intersection of the interchange and the ramp, without much reserved space for pedestrians, and many people also cross the road and occupy the lane during their visit and photo session, causing a safety hazard. The reporter saw that the authority set up several barriers in the area of the ramp near the mural, taking up a certain number of lanes to increase the buffer space for the vehicles and the visitors. The police officers on duty also kept signaling to the passing vehicles to slow down and keep reminding the people taking photos to move to the pavement.

Members of the public appeared to be taking up the lane and taking photographs at the intersection during their visit.

Many visitors are crossing the road and competing with cars for the road.

The mural is 70 meters long and 11 meters high. “Huangjue Evening Ferry” is one of the twelve scenes of Chongqing Bayu, which reflects the historical appearance of the old Chongqing ferry port, injecting a cultural atmosphere into the “two-river and four-bank” areas. The police remind: people visiting the “Old Chongqing Ferry” should not gather, do not occupy the road, be civilized and ensure safety. (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
