2021-02-19 14:46:55

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Morning Post, Lianglukou Huangguan Escalator, which has been out of service for more than four months, has successfully completed hazard-removing and renovation and been put into trial operation. The newly designed Huangguan Escalator logo sign is also unveiled.

Huangguan Escalator is the longest sloping escalator in China (and the second longest in Asia) and is known as the number one mountain climbing escalator in China. Officially opened on February 18, 1996, Huangguan Escalator is 112 meters long, 52.5 meters high, 1.3 meters wide and has a 30-degree gradient. It runs at a speed of 0.75 meters per second, with a total running time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds and a maximum capacity of 13,500 passengers per hour per unit.

The ceiling at the top of the lobby has been redecorated to give the whole hall a fresher, brighter look. At the same time, the functional layout of the up- and downward station lobby of Huangguan Escalator has been redesigned and standardized, and a new visitors’ rest area, a cultural and creative products vending area and an all-area tourism service center have been added. The center provides consultation services for visitors and offers them an introduction to attractions and tourism route planning services.

New entry gates have also been added to the up- and downward station lobby. Instead of coins, visitors can enter the station by scanning QR code on their mobile phones, swiping their Chongqing Payeasy, or purchasing tickets at the all-area tourism service center to pass through the gates. Visitors can also purchase tickets at the self-service ticket machines in the lobby or online by following Chongqing Cableway Company’s official WeChat account.

The entire top of Huangguan Escalator has been made fully transparent through this renovation, allowing views of the surrounding buildings. On a sunny day, the sunlight pours through the glass into the Escalator and visitors can enjoy riding the escalator while looking up at the blue sky and white clouds.

In addition, the original advertisement boards on both sides of the middle area of the Escalator have been transformed into transparent windows, making the whole area fresher and brighter.

What also makes Huangguan Escalator a sight to behold after its transformation is the glass-free 3D screen at the downward escalator, which is three-dimensional and makes the 25-year-old Huangguan Escalator even more beautiful and cooler. (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
