2021-02-25 10:29:58

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Over the past few days, apricot blossoms, cherry blossoms, Prunus Cerasifera, plum blossoms and peach blossoms have been in full bloom, transforming Chongqing into a city of flowers overnight. The weather is the reason of the blooming of so many flowers. On February 23, the reporter of Chongqing Daily learned from the Chongqing Meteorological Service that from February 1 to 22, the average temperature in main districts of Chongqing was 13.6°C, significantly higher than the normal year and the same period last year by 3.8°C and 3°C respectively, the highest for the same period since local meteorological records were available.

It is learned that from February 1 to 22, the average temperature in Chongqing was 11.7℃, significantly higher than the same period of the year and the same period last year by 3.1℃ and 2.7℃ respectively, the second highest for the same period since meteorological records were available, second only to 12.3℃ in 2009; the average temperature in main districts, on the other hand, was the highest for the same period since local weather records were available.

Flowers cannot bloom without the warmth of the sun. From February 1 to 22, the average sunshine hours in Chongqing was 84.4, significantly more than the same period of the year and the same period last year by 1.6 times, the most for the same period since meteorological records were available; and the sunshine hours in main districts were 71.7, 2.2 times and 2.5 times more than the same period of the year and the same period last year respectively, breaking the record for the same period since the local meteorological records were available.

Meteorological experts explained that this is because the middle and high latitudes have been controlled by a latitudinal straight westerly circulation since February, with a small meridional circulation and weak cold air that does not easily affect Chongqing to the south; secondly, the low cloud cover and strong solar radiation since February have led to high temperatures.
