CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- To satisfy the demand of aviation cargo market in Chongqing region, China Southern Airlines Logistics has opened freighter routes from Chongqing to Amsterdam and Frankfurt, with 3 flights per week in the initial stage.

The above two routes are operated by A330 aircraft. Some of the flight cabins can carry cargo, with the maximum round-trip capacity of a single flight more than 60 tons. After the opening of the route, cargo flights from Chongqing to Amsterdam and Frankfurt will be able to operate up to seven and five times a week, which will further enhance the carrying capacity of international cargo routes from Chongqing to Europe.

At present, the outbound cargo from Chongqing to Europe is dominated by electronic products such as laptop computers, while the inbound cargo is dominated by e-commerce overseas shopping goods. The further improvement of intercontinental cargo flight capacity will promote the continuous and sound development of electronic information industry of Chongqing, and lay a solid foundation for Chongqing to build a global electronic information industry manufacturing base.

In 2020, in respond to significant change in domestic and international air transport market in China during the epidemic prevention and control period, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued a notice “Replacing Passengers with Cargo” to guide civil aviation enterprises to use passenger aircraft capacity to operate cargo flights on the premise of ensuring safety, thus timely meeting the demand for international air logistics.

Chongqing Airport seized the opportunity of aviation logistics development, and actively improved the freight route network and developed “passenger-to-cargo” flights. There were 4 new international freight routes throughout the year. The total number of international freight routes reached 22. There were 1306 “passenger-to-cargo” flights, and the cargo throughput was 411,000 tons, achieving a year-on-year growth of 0.08% against the trend. Under the situation of tight national air cargo capacity, Chongqing Airport has adopted the all-cargo flight route and “passenger to cargo” flight to serve both routes and service cycles, so as to conserve energy for post-epidemic economic recovery and high-quality development.
