CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the aircraft cabin, they always guard the safety of the cabin. In China Express Airlines, there is such a team of female security officers, known as “Lan Yun” Female Team which was set up in 2020.

In the term of “Lan Yun” Female Team, “Lan” takes the meaning of Mulan, meaning Mulan in blue sky; “Yun” takes the meaning of goodness. Therefore, Lan Yun means “the civil and military Mulan in blue sky”. This group of women with an average age of only 26 years old aviation security officers, carry out air security tasks in the aircraft, to protect the safety of the crew and aircraft, and dispose illegal interference and disruptive incidents on the aircraft.

For air safety officers, women’s physical fitness and skill training programs are the same as men’s, such as buttock, stick swinging, fist and leg methods, push-ups, etc., but there are differences in standards. They can pass the 100-meter race in 19 seconds, the 1,500-meter race in 9 minutes, and as for the 30-second barbell pull of 40kg, they have to do 12 to pass the barbell.

To maintain physical fitness, after work, they need to guarantee 24 hours of training every quarter, which is divided into theory, physical fitness and skills. As for the annual assessment, they have to complete the six physical fitness items in three hours. So, it is not easy to pass.

Passing all kinds of tests, and mastering a series of skills, this group of women air security officer can work on passenger plane to escort each flight.

Ma Jiexin, 25 years old, is the group leader of Lan Yun; and she was majored in Etiquette and Cabin Service originally, but became a female security officer by a strange combination of circumstances. “After graduation, I really wanted to get on the plane, so I happened to meet the physical standards. I finished 1500m in 7 minutes and 40 seconds, and 100m in 16 seconds, and I passed the interview to be a security officer.”

The narrow cabin is their main “worksite”. Liu Yao said: “The first thing we have to do is to check the cabin carefully. The toilet, the area under the seat and the luggage rack are the key locations to check. When passengers aboard the plane, we will watch everyone who enters the cabin and keep an eye out for suspicious or special persons.”

It is a cinch to catch and grapple. Liu recalled that at the beginning of working on aircraft, everyone would think that a little girl could not be a security officer. At such times, she would say that “we have the power to protect our airline passengers. Please trust us.” 

When they had free time, they would gather together for singing, playing the drums, or playing the piano. They will also gather together to discuss food or shopping experience and share interesting things in life.

At work, they are the steel roses guarding security; and in life, they are also gentle and virtuous beauty.
