Established in 1992, Luo Zhongli Scholarship has a history of 29 years and is aimed at fresh graduates from universities. This year, hundreds of fresh graduates from 11 universities and art colleges across China and overseas applied for the scholarship, which took half a year to complete. And 24 applicants were shortlisted after being screened by nine preliminary judges from nine art colleges across China. In the end, five young students, Liu Yuling, Su Yongjian, Wang Xinyan, Wu Yuhang and Zhao Yu, were awarded, and Luo Zhongli, former President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, presented the prizes to the winners on site.

“The general character of our exhibition this year is ‘diverse, youthful and lively’.” Ning Jia, the organizer, introduced that there was a delay in the exhibition due to COVID-19, which also gave the young artists more sufficient time to prepare, think and create their works, and this year’s works are also more reflective compared to the previous ones. Thanks to a long period of research and creation, the art forms presented this year are also different from previous years. In terms of design categories, this year not only includes traditional sculpture, painting and installation art video, but also includes areas such as technological new media art.

“Luo Zhongli Scholarship is mainly set for recent graduates, and such an award is an incentive and a guarantee for young artists, who are in transition from school to society, to the art community and to social reality, as they embark on their artistic journey,” said Ning Jia.

It is learned that 2020 Luo Zhongli Scholarship Exhibition will be on display until May 31 and is free to the public. (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
