CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- It is the season of tea picking in March. The tea plantations in Chongqing are also in full spring bloom. Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and Chongqing Geographic Information and Remote Sensing Application Center recently launched the Chongqing Tea-picking Map (2021). With the help of this map, let us go into the tea plantations and experience the scent of tea in spring.

Chongqing has been a tea-producing region since ancient times, with a temperate climate with frequent clouds and mountainous terrain, making it suitable for tea planting. Most of the tea plantations in Chongqing are hidden in the mountains and the tea trees grow at an altitude of 600-1000 meters. Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to pick tea from the tea plantations in spring.

You can take a look at a few of the Bayu tea plantations we recommend.

Dingxin Tea Plantation, Banan

Dingxin Tea Plantation, located on Baixiang Mountain in Banan District, at an altitude of about 1000 meters, is blessed with a cloudy and humid climate all year round, which gives the tea trees a unique advantage to grow. It is where Chongqing famous Banan Yinzhen Tea and Dingxin Green Tea are produced. Dingxin Tea Culture Experience Park has many cultural experiences such as tea-picking, handmade tea, traditional congou, tea art classes, new tea drinks, tea food and tea meals, tea lodging, tea cultural and creative products, etc. Its unique ecological landscape is known as Chongqing’s version of “Sri Lanka”.

Wansheng Stone Forest Scenic Area, Wansheng

Under the theme of “Top 1 Tea-making in Chongqing - Tea Fragrance in Wansheng”, activities such as tea-picking, tea-making, tea appreciation, tea performances and other activities have been opened, and this activity will last until April 11. Later activities will continue to be carried out in the Wansheng Stone Forest Scenic Area, during which visitors can personally participate in a series of activities such as on-site tea-picking, tea-making, tea appreciation, tea performance and tea ceremony explanation, and tea shopping.

Maoshan Tea Plantation, Jiangjin

Located in the southern region of Jiangjin, Maoshan Tea Plantation is 600 meters above sea level, with a mild climate and abundant rainfall, making it one of the most suitable areas for growing tea leaves rich in selenium in Chongqing. Visitors can experience the fun of tea-picking, tea-making and tea appreciation and enjoy the beauty of the tea mountain, and they can also visit Jiangjin Tea History Museum and view the many old tea-making machines, some of the tea farmers’ living artifacts, tea storage utensils and tea drinking utensils displayed in the museum to get a visual impression of the evolution of the tea-making process.

Chashanfudi of Baima Mountain, Wulong

Baima Mountain, with its beautiful natural ecological environment and year-round cloud cover, is the origin of Wulong Tianchi Tea. In addition to the lush tea trees scenery, a distinctive tea mountain town has also been created here, with more than 6,400mu of alpine tea plantations and secluded villages, leisurely scenery of a paradise on earth.

Lihuashan Tea Base, Qijiang

Lihuashan Tea Base, with a total area of 1200mu, produces several varieties of tea such as Bayu Tezao Tea, Huangchunya Tea, etc. The staggered tea trees stretch and undulate along the mountain, like green winding ribbons, adding a touch of green color to the mountain. Amidst the ten thousand mu of white pear blossoms, the thousand mu of green tea plantations set the pear mountain off in just the right way. (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
