Chongqing to hold 20 marathons this year

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On March 21, Tongliang Native Style Marathon began; on March 28, Dazu Around Longshui Lake Half Marathon began; as the spring sunshine became brighter, the Marathon in Chongqing also reached its peak. According to the sports event calendar announced by Chongqing Administration of Sport, there are as many as 9 marathons in April, and more than 40 running events in Chongqing this year, including 20 marathons (full and half).

Compared with previous years, the Marathon in Chongqing has been upgraded overall this year: 2021 Chongqing Tongliang Native Style Marathon has been upgraded to a full marathon, attracting nearly 10,000 runners to gather in Longxiang; while all contestants in Dazu Longshui Lake Half Marathon are equipped with timing chips, so that all contestants can receive their own results and enjoy the ritual sense of marathon.

Although Chongqing International Marathon originally scheduled to be held in March was postponed to November, Chongqing Marathon Organizing Committee announced that a new event, 2021 Chongqing Landmark Riverside Half Marathon of Chongqing Marathon Series, would be held on April 18.

In addition, Chongqing Women’s Half Marathon has also received good news. It was awarded the 2021 IAAF-certified Road Running Elite Sign Event, becoming the only female marathon in China on the list of IAAF Elite Sign Event.

2021 Yongchuan Marathon, which will be held on April 3, will be held in combination with the municipality’s Sixth National Games Half Marathon to enhance the viewing experience of the race.

According to the event calendar, in April, Chongqing Dianjiang Half Marathon, Chongqing Bishan Half Marathon, Three Gorges Orange Township Pastoral Marathon, China Wulong 100km Mountain Cross-country Race, Tieshanping Forest Half Marathon, Wansheng Cloud Flower Sea Mountain Marathon, Wansheng Cloud Flower Sea Mountain Marathon, “Looking for Jiulong” Chongqing Third National Cross-country Challenge and many other events will also be held in April.
